Last month our TY students had the opportunity to engage with an artist, as part of their Creative Engagement project which the art department were awarded funding for. The students got to create their own self portraits with artist, Declan O’Meara. They did a workshop over two days, where they learned new techniques and how to use a new media in art making. The results were these beautiful, colourful and imaginative self portraits. Well done TY’s and a big thank you to artist Declan O’Meara and Creative Engagement for such a wonderful opportunity.

SchoolsSitTogether in Mindful Sit for World Mental Health Day
Coláiste Treasa is a member of the MISP (Mindfulness in Schools Project) and several teachers are trained in the teaching of Mindfulness. As part of our wellbeing programme, all students in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Transition year study a module of Mindfulness, it is also incorporated into SPHE and Religion throughout the school. All schools who are members of MISP take part in an International Project called “#SchoolsSitTogether” for World Mental Health Day on Wednesday 17th November.
This event was organised by Helen Vaughan Ducey, where all students in Coláiste Treasa did a Mindful Sit for 10 minutes. The aim is to raise awareness of the need for young people to develop skills to support their wellbeing both inside and out, and is done in numerous schools internationally.
